not albino, albin-yes

evening.

i awoke thismorning to realise that it is a sunday, and with a long and satisfying groan i dragged myself off my mattress and into a standing position. from there, i got myself ready to go to the Solomon Islands tea-party at PC, which i was not looking forward to since i'd beaten myself up a bit last night at a party i never expected to attend, and was more than willing to spend my day doing absolutely NAFF-ALL.
A quick summary of the event: food was a bit iffy, although the sweets werent too horrid. the little posse i was a part of seemed to irritate just about every elderly woman there by congregating in all the wrong spots of the tiny, cramped venue. After an hour or so of standing around wondering when it would end, it ended. Dad, Mary-Anne (the principle of one of the schools we're visiting over in the SIs who is in Perth for a few weeks) and i clambered into the car and chatted our way to Caversham Wildlife Park.
this is where it got interesting.

i have never, in my entire life, seen so many albino animals gathered into one area at the same time. Caversham has got to have some mass breeding program on or something but there are so many pure white kangaroos and wallabies there it's actually ridiculous. they are almost in equal proportion to the regular red/brown/grey coloured marsupials. Aside from this surprising encounter, i was fortunate enough to meet a strangely awake (and not grumpy) koala, and a 30kg boulder of a wombat (who was fast asleep and dreaming of digging, apparently..)

The only other animals we came across that got a decent reaction out of me were the flying possums (too cute for their own good), the flying foxs (as i am a fan of the bat), and at last the owls. i LOVE owls. every type of owl fascinates me. i would draw them all day long if i could, they are truely beautiful birds.

The park closed, and we returned Mary-Anne to PC. I strangely managed to work up the courage to drive home from there. so far, the longest drive i've ever done, and also my first ever night-drive. i obviously managed to keep myself and Dad in one piece because here i am blogging.

other exciting news is that i may actually be able to work at caversham wildlife park over the summer holidays. i've fallen in love with that place :)

that is all for tonight - my apologies if you are still reading for such a long post.

Over and out,
=that gen person=

P.S. I forgot to add another strange thing i spotted at the park - deer. yes, deer, in an Australian wildlife park. no idea what they were doing there, but there you go... the world is indeed a very strange place.
