ribbit.

Good morning.

It's 1:20-something am.

I have half a glass of Schweppes Blood Orange Agrum. What breaks my heart is that whilst watching Criminal Minds and ignoring it, it has lost it's *fizz*, left a dry taste in my mouth and therefore the only reason I have to finish it is simply because of what it was.

Oh how subtly this represents a situation in life I and so many others have so often come across. You discover something good and exciting in the fridge of life, take it out, half-use/consume it, get bored, distract yourself with something else, then feel sad when you realise that while you've been distracted, what you previously got excited about has lost it's *fizz* and the only reason you'd keep it is for what it was, the memory of the excitement you felt when you first discovered it.

I'm thinking of purchasing a few small green tree-frogs to keep in the study. But I shall leave the idea alone until I'm certain it's not just one of these things that'll lose it's *fizz* after a certain amount of time or effort or money.

"Once upon a time there was a bear and a bee who lived in a wood and were the best of friends. All summer long the bee collected nectar from morning to night while the bear lay on his back basking in the long grass. When winter came the bear realised he had nothing to eat and thought to himself 'I hope that busy little bee will share some of his honey with me.' But the bee was nowhere to be found - he had died of a stress induced coronary disease."

happy.

Good evening.

I don't have much to say tonight, other than that aside from being stressed out about future events, I am happy. For once in my life I can honestly say that I'm in a stable place, with a stable state of mind, and my heart in a safe, stable place. Yeah, there are always things that hurt or irritate or cause pain, but none are so big that they'd change the overall state I'm in now. It's a wonderful feeling, and there is only one person to thank for that, and you know who you are. I love you utteotuabaaawlm.

I wish anyone reading this the same state one day, hopefully soon of course. Just don't forget that no matter what life puts you through or however much shit people throw at you, there are always people that love you, even if they don't necessarily show it.

Keep on keeping on.

2011

Happy New Year.

It's kind of hard to believe that the new year is upon us, but it's true. This is nearly two weeks late, I know, but still. 2011 shall be fun, and I know that for sure at least up until the end of March. This is because the first quarter of the new year is choc-a-block full of events to look forward to. The first is in two days time. I turn 17 on Saturday, hooray! (This also means a dinner at Little Caesar's Pizzeria with John and my family :3 omnomnom.) After that, Ben's birthday on Monday, and then nothing much till embarking on the journey of Yr 12 on the 2nd of Feb (I think..). Big Day Out with Taylah and Dean on the 6th, the Ball on the 19th (woo!), then after that on the 7th of March, SOUNDWAVE 2011 :D This epic event is followed (hopefully) by Carl Barron on the 25th or 26th or March, which concludes the first quarter. The Chasing The Ninth video clip filming which I have been invited along to should happen somewhere in that timeframe, but the date has still not been confirmed. Who knows what will happen after that, probably not a lot. Exams. Woooo...

2010 was a mix of everything. It was good, bad, stressful, heartbreaking, painful, wonderful, joyful, exciting, exhilarating and never boring. I found love, lost it, found it again, lost it again and found it once more. I intend to break that cycle this year, which should add some much needed stability in order to get through the final year of school. Here's to the past. (<--also an ADTR song, but it's relevant). It may have been hectic but, well, what happened happened and it's helped to build everyone to what they are today, as has every year before now. So we can be thankful for it, no matter how it ended. All we can do is give 2011 our best shot.

I apologize for the overload-on-the-corny in the above paragraph.

In other news, my bass arrived the other day. If anyone thinks of any songs with great bass parts, let me know. Suggestions are appreciated.

That's it for now.

this blog is for taylah

Good evening.

It is TOO DAMN HOT, I swear. If only aircon weren't so damaging to earth.. Fans and wet towels just dont do it sometimes. The only solution is to move to the UK. Then I will be happy :) Britons unite! POM POWER! :D

Anyway. I bought a Yamaha RBX170 the other day :D $210 from South Australia, excluding postage. I cannot wait for it to arrive, I'm desperate to start slaping that black beast!

Nom. It's as good as I'm gonna get, so I'm happy :) Although, that Viper SG LTD bass I saw in Musgroves last week made me jizz. Dude at the counter casually states "It's $2, 230 *smile*". I casually swore a long string of swears in my mind. I got over it though when I remembered the look on his face when I went to ask him about it.

I have never seen someone so relieved. I had to wait a bit before I spoke to him because he was helping this 15-or-so-yr-old and her manfriend. She stood there holding a ukelele, strumming it and trying intensely hard to produce a noise that had even a tiny chance of sounding like she knew what she was doing, while asking about the price and brand. It was as obvious as a ginormous whitehead on the tip of someone's nose that she had absolutely no idea what she was doing. She was trying and utterly failing. You could tell as plain as day that she was only there to try and appear "cool". It wasnt working for her and she knew it. I feel sorry for her manfriend and also the Counter Dude.

He asked her a question about something which stumped her and there was an awkward silence, which ended when he looked at me with an expression that clearly read "HELP ME!". I asked about the viper and relief flooded his face. "Ah yes, the Viper! Beautiful bass, one of the best, definitely something to save up for, for sure! I know how it feels to want something so far out of your budget." By that time the chick had given up, realised she had no place there and pranced (manfriend following behind like a lost dog) out of Musgroves. The store itself sighed in relief.

Yes I know the last couple of paragraphs were a little bitchy but you must understand that if it were not so rude, I would have been lolling throughout the entire experience. I also just felt the need to be bitchy because I'm down tonight, but whatever. Blogging is good for that kind of thing, because no-one has to read it :)

That's all for tonight.

¿pigeons?

Good evening.

Tonight is just a short post pondering the existance of pigeons.

The predominant question is: Why?

Why must they strut around, involuntarily thrusting their tiny heads back and forth with such dumb pride?
Why must they scavenge around under cafe tables, striking at any miniscule morsel of anything even vaguely edible?
Why must they crowd telephone lines and city footpaths?
Why must they so accurately pick targets for their offensive white ammo, and somehow be able to do so without giving it so much as a nanosecond's thought?
Why must they decorate any available statue, windowledge, footpath or park bench with that revoltingness?
Why must they fumble their way through the air, making a whooping racket as they ascend and then landing clumsily with a thump and a fluttery confusion on whatever they hit first (be it the ground, windowledge, statue, park bench, telephone line, wall, window or tall person)?

The answer to all these frequently asked questions is simply this: No-one knows, there probably isn't one. Sorry if this disappoints anyone actually wanting an answer. I suppose maybe I am jealous of pigeons. This sounds completely absurd at first, but let me explain.
Somehow, pigeons are able to do all of the above, without having half a brain-cell to share between the lot of them. They are so oblivious that they may not know they even exist themselves. But is this something to envy? Imagine a life; where food was plentiful, you could crap wherever you wanted, you annoyed people without even thinking about it, and all you had to worry about was where you would fly to next, either to eat or poop? And the best part is, your memory would be so short that you would never get bored of it. Blissful simplicity.

So to conclude: Maybe these pesty birds have it better than we do. Life is befuddling.

well, that was fun.

Good evening.

I'd like to post tonight about the sad reality that we know as The Holidays. As we are all aware, The Holidays bring a huge sigh of relief to almost everyone. For many, they are comprised of an extended period of time doing absolutely nothing at all other than relaxing, socialising, eating, sleeping and excreting. This is completely and utterly true.

See, some people (namely myself), like to make stupid statements such as: "WOW! Now it's The Holidays, I'm going to do all the things I couldn't do before due to time restrictions because of school/exams/term-things.", and make lists of things, mainly constructive, to use up all this spare time ahead. The ONLY things I've managed to do so far this holidays is catch up with a couple of friends, hang with John and buy a couple of birthday prezzies for various people. (and while we're on the topic - happy birthday to Mitch Dalby :D)

The rest of the time though, I've pretty much neglected and abandoned the aforementioned lists and sat on my bum all day doing bugger-all. And damn does it feel good ;D I mean sure, congratulations to anyone who has actually managed to get something constructive and/or creative done so far these holidays, but in reality its like a vicious cycle. In The Holidays we tell ourselves we're going to do all the stuff we couldnt in term time, but then we get lazy and dont do anything we said we would. So then we tell ourselves that we'll quit being lazy and do all that stuff once term starts, to give us less motivation to be lazy then. But then we have to many school-related shenanigans to get done, and tell ourselves that once we have time (in The Holidays) we'll do all that stuff we said we'd do in the term that we said we'd do in the last set of The Holidays.

-sigh-, life is tragic.

But on a seperate note, I recently added to my Yoshi/Mario-related-merch collection. Newest addition is Medium Green Yoshi, at the back in the centre.

ALSO - I finally bought the new ADTR album, What Separates Me From You. I have literally no words to describe how amazing this album is. ADTR, namely Jeremy McKinnon, are legends. Jeremy's lyrics are obviously from the heart, making them all the more empathiseable (if that isn't a word, it is now). The composition of the instruments accompanied by Jeremy's voice completely melt me. This goes for all their albums: One of the things I love most about ADTR is that I can understand the screaming, and its perfectly balanced. Not too much, not too little, just right. I can honestly say that if marrying their music (or Jeremy) and bearing its/their children were possible, there would be nothing stopping me.

Anyway, enough for tonight, for it is nearly tomorrow.

like a bad girl straight to video

Evening.

So something exciting happened today :) Damien, guitarist of Chasing The Ninth, offered to me an opportunity over FB this afternoon. In return for some long, tedious work in an effort to give the impression that their music is really really popular on Triple J (which it is.. but people don't know it yet..), he said he would reward me with a garuntee that I would be able to attend the second part of the filming of their new video clip :D This is a great privilege because normally no extras (anyone other than the band/film-crew/photographers) are allowed to attend the filming. But that's just because I'm awesome like that and love doing promo-work ;D

Another exciting thing is that A Day To Remember's new album What Separates Me From You is out today! *runs in circles out of pure joy* I will hopefully have been able to purchase it by Friday. Link to their new single is here.

Not much else to say tonight, but here's an amusing story for you :)
