Just cos I don't think I've ever had a post beginning in J

Good evening.

This is a rarity, I know. Although, it seems I'm saying that at the beginning of every post. Simply because blogging isn't really a priority any more. Apologies to anyone who actually does read my blogs.

I'll sum up the last 2-and-a-bit months, and the next week or so. School, Saltimbanco, John, Exams, Stress, John, Skating, Home sucks, Fustration, Neglecting guitar/bass, John, Too much junk food and procrastination, Irritation, 18, Dinner, Movies, No money, Happiness, School, John.

Yep, thats about it.

I can't wait till next year, maybe then I'll get out of here. I <3 The Amity Affliction. Oh, and I cleaned my room. Wish my track pants werent broken. I love winter. Hurry up holidays. Wasting Time and I have a love-hate relationship. The CNS sucks, huzzah youtube. Juggling = aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh. Thinking ahead helps. Why do I feel lost? Backspace, type, backspace, type: two steps forward, one step back. We need our own language. My Memory is Miserable.

Holy shit I sound mentally ill, or high at least. I'm not. I just cbf explaining any of the thoughts that go through my head, so make what you want out of the above thought process.

The Death of Shockingly Nonsense

Good evening.

SO.

It's been a while, yes, but I have legit, explainable reasons.

As some of you may have noticed, a certain ex-wife and I have amalgamated out ideas and created a new blog for all you trolls to enjoy.

The Link: www.aloadofordinary.blogspot.com

I have no idea when I'll next be blogging here, but obviously you'll know when I do :)

Good evening.

My life at the moment (not that you care):
ADTR and Underoath in Perth at the Astor soon - HUZZAH! :D I am a very chuffed Gen right now. Soundwave on Monday too, missing open day, but what can the school do? Nothing, I'll be out of their hair by next year anyway. Dad's wedding on Sat (hooray) but it means 4 days and 5 nights with John, so it kinda evens out. JSR Ball next weekend :D Power came back on today also, thank goodness for that. One night/morning wandering around aimlessly and you really learn to appreciate it. It's about time they put the powerlines underground to stop all this nonsense. Working on my Zunicorn piece, should be finished when it's finished. What else?... just busy-ness.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bitch Topic: Younger Years:

I hate younger years. COMPLETE disrespect for all superiors.

A poem (to the rhythm of The Ants Go Marching)

The younger years push millions by millions hurrah, hurrah
No respect for anyone else hurrah, hurrah
Space on the stairs does not exist
Which makes the yr12's really pissed
And they go stampeding past us all
To get to their oversized lockers.

Also, just because the yr11's got kicked out of the science block because they left too much mess on the floor does not mean they can come and invade the ES rooms, which are strictly for the yr12's and only the yr12's to eat their recess and lunch in. They really do think they rule the school. I swear the only reason I wear my seniors badge on my lapel is so they realise that I'm not some up-themselves yr 9 or 10. Why, when I was a young yr8, being frowned and bitched on by all the elder years, I would quake in my shiney, black, horrid new shoes and avoid all my superiors like I was a cyclone avoiding Perth. Using the yr12 bathroom was unthought of, passing through the yr12 quad was terrifying and speaking to a yr12 was enough to cause a premature-by-60-years heart attack.

Good evening,

Realised last night that I've been neglecting blogspot for a bit. What generally causes that to happen is shit goes down, which distracts me from doing normal stuff that I generally do when I'm bored or have something interesting to say. Naturally at the end of these periods of time, all I want to do is RANTRANTRANTRANTRANTRANT.

I want to RANT about life, death, marriage, home, family, education, love, stress, events, people, friends, and how life's favourite pastime is throwing faeces at you. Thisevening, however, i will save you a long and boring read, and instead post the previous words along with a small collection of random stuff that enters or dwells in my head untill I head off to enjoy unconsciousness.

*spaz*

Good evening.

WHOAH! WHOAh! WHOah! WHoah! Whoah! whoah!
Tonight has been crazy.
Crazy good,
And crazy bad / crazy weird.

Crazy bad / crazy weird because I found out thisevening that my Dad is getting married on the 5th of March to his girlfriend. My boyfriend and I have been dating longer than those two, yet they're already getting married. It's kind of ridiculous. It's destroying our family life (excluding Dad's girlfriend/fiance and her son), mostly because this has all gone by faster than a rocket-blasted cheetah, or something else really, really fast. Neither of us kids have had time to even dissolve and get used to the idea of dad dating someone, let alone now being told we're to have a step-mum and step-brother in just over a month. Its JUST. TOO. FAST.
Ok, I get that Dad needs someone to keep him company, especially when my sister and I move out, but before then? Only 4 years since his wife and our mother died from cancer? Seriously? Both he and her need a SERIOUS time out. I've tried telling him that, but he's all like "NUP! We're convinced this is the right time and it's 'meant to be' and there's no stopping us."
But he fails to see that even though he may not need the time, his kids just might, even when I slap that idea in his face. Parents (or rather the lack of them, leading to a new parental figure only a few years later) is so fustrating. So the first half of tonight was a serious FML moment. I swear if that woman ever tries to tell me what to do I will have to fight off the very appealing temptation to flip her off. Grr.

BUT, tonight has been crazy good as well. All the work done by Damien, the other band members, myself, and all the other CTN fans has most certainly paid off, because Chasing The Ninth are now #1 and #3 on the rock charts, and #3 and #5 on the overall charts on Triple J! THIS IS BLOODY BRILLIANT! *has a happy* I will be celebrating my arse off in the front row if they win a place at Soundwave. Of course, it's not over yet since the competition doesnt close till the 6th of Feb, so we'll need to keep bugging everyone to register, listen, playlist, rate and save to keep them up there, but the hopes are high!!

Thats it for tonight.

ribbit.

Good morning.

It's 1:20-something am.

I have half a glass of Schweppes Blood Orange Agrum. What breaks my heart is that whilst watching Criminal Minds and ignoring it, it has lost it's *fizz*, left a dry taste in my mouth and therefore the only reason I have to finish it is simply because of what it was.

Oh how subtly this represents a situation in life I and so many others have so often come across. You discover something good and exciting in the fridge of life, take it out, half-use/consume it, get bored, distract yourself with something else, then feel sad when you realise that while you've been distracted, what you previously got excited about has lost it's *fizz* and the only reason you'd keep it is for what it was, the memory of the excitement you felt when you first discovered it.

I'm thinking of purchasing a few small green tree-frogs to keep in the study. But I shall leave the idea alone until I'm certain it's not just one of these things that'll lose it's *fizz* after a certain amount of time or effort or money.

"Once upon a time there was a bear and a bee who lived in a wood and were the best of friends. All summer long the bee collected nectar from morning to night while the bear lay on his back basking in the long grass. When winter came the bear realised he had nothing to eat and thought to himself 'I hope that busy little bee will share some of his honey with me.' But the bee was nowhere to be found - he had died of a stress induced coronary disease."

happy.

Good evening.

I don't have much to say tonight, other than that aside from being stressed out about future events, I am happy. For once in my life I can honestly say that I'm in a stable place, with a stable state of mind, and my heart in a safe, stable place. Yeah, there are always things that hurt or irritate or cause pain, but none are so big that they'd change the overall state I'm in now. It's a wonderful feeling, and there is only one person to thank for that, and you know who you are. I love you utteotuabaaawlm.

I wish anyone reading this the same state one day, hopefully soon of course. Just don't forget that no matter what life puts you through or however much shit people throw at you, there are always people that love you, even if they don't necessarily show it.

Keep on keeping on.

2011

Happy New Year.

It's kind of hard to believe that the new year is upon us, but it's true. This is nearly two weeks late, I know, but still. 2011 shall be fun, and I know that for sure at least up until the end of March. This is because the first quarter of the new year is choc-a-block full of events to look forward to. The first is in two days time. I turn 17 on Saturday, hooray! (This also means a dinner at Little Caesar's Pizzeria with John and my family :3 omnomnom.) After that, Ben's birthday on Monday, and then nothing much till embarking on the journey of Yr 12 on the 2nd of Feb (I think..). Big Day Out with Taylah and Dean on the 6th, the Ball on the 19th (woo!), then after that on the 7th of March, SOUNDWAVE 2011 :D This epic event is followed (hopefully) by Carl Barron on the 25th or 26th or March, which concludes the first quarter. The Chasing The Ninth video clip filming which I have been invited along to should happen somewhere in that timeframe, but the date has still not been confirmed. Who knows what will happen after that, probably not a lot. Exams. Woooo...

2010 was a mix of everything. It was good, bad, stressful, heartbreaking, painful, wonderful, joyful, exciting, exhilarating and never boring. I found love, lost it, found it again, lost it again and found it once more. I intend to break that cycle this year, which should add some much needed stability in order to get through the final year of school. Here's to the past. (<--also an ADTR song, but it's relevant). It may have been hectic but, well, what happened happened and it's helped to build everyone to what they are today, as has every year before now. So we can be thankful for it, no matter how it ended. All we can do is give 2011 our best shot.

I apologize for the overload-on-the-corny in the above paragraph.

In other news, my bass arrived the other day. If anyone thinks of any songs with great bass parts, let me know. Suggestions are appreciated.

That's it for now.

this blog is for taylah

Good evening.

It is TOO DAMN HOT, I swear. If only aircon weren't so damaging to earth.. Fans and wet towels just dont do it sometimes. The only solution is to move to the UK. Then I will be happy :) Britons unite! POM POWER! :D

Anyway. I bought a Yamaha RBX170 the other day :D $210 from South Australia, excluding postage. I cannot wait for it to arrive, I'm desperate to start slaping that black beast!

Nom. It's as good as I'm gonna get, so I'm happy :) Although, that Viper SG LTD bass I saw in Musgroves last week made me jizz. Dude at the counter casually states "It's $2, 230 *smile*". I casually swore a long string of swears in my mind. I got over it though when I remembered the look on his face when I went to ask him about it.

I have never seen someone so relieved. I had to wait a bit before I spoke to him because he was helping this 15-or-so-yr-old and her manfriend. She stood there holding a ukelele, strumming it and trying intensely hard to produce a noise that had even a tiny chance of sounding like she knew what she was doing, while asking about the price and brand. It was as obvious as a ginormous whitehead on the tip of someone's nose that she had absolutely no idea what she was doing. She was trying and utterly failing. You could tell as plain as day that she was only there to try and appear "cool". It wasnt working for her and she knew it. I feel sorry for her manfriend and also the Counter Dude.

He asked her a question about something which stumped her and there was an awkward silence, which ended when he looked at me with an expression that clearly read "HELP ME!". I asked about the viper and relief flooded his face. "Ah yes, the Viper! Beautiful bass, one of the best, definitely something to save up for, for sure! I know how it feels to want something so far out of your budget." By that time the chick had given up, realised she had no place there and pranced (manfriend following behind like a lost dog) out of Musgroves. The store itself sighed in relief.

Yes I know the last couple of paragraphs were a little bitchy but you must understand that if it were not so rude, I would have been lolling throughout the entire experience. I also just felt the need to be bitchy because I'm down tonight, but whatever. Blogging is good for that kind of thing, because no-one has to read it :)

That's all for tonight.

¿pigeons?

Good evening.

Tonight is just a short post pondering the existance of pigeons.

The predominant question is: Why?

Why must they strut around, involuntarily thrusting their tiny heads back and forth with such dumb pride?
Why must they scavenge around under cafe tables, striking at any miniscule morsel of anything even vaguely edible?
Why must they crowd telephone lines and city footpaths?
Why must they so accurately pick targets for their offensive white ammo, and somehow be able to do so without giving it so much as a nanosecond's thought?
Why must they decorate any available statue, windowledge, footpath or park bench with that revoltingness?
Why must they fumble their way through the air, making a whooping racket as they ascend and then landing clumsily with a thump and a fluttery confusion on whatever they hit first (be it the ground, windowledge, statue, park bench, telephone line, wall, window or tall person)?

The answer to all these frequently asked questions is simply this: No-one knows, there probably isn't one. Sorry if this disappoints anyone actually wanting an answer. I suppose maybe I am jealous of pigeons. This sounds completely absurd at first, but let me explain.
Somehow, pigeons are able to do all of the above, without having half a brain-cell to share between the lot of them. They are so oblivious that they may not know they even exist themselves. But is this something to envy? Imagine a life; where food was plentiful, you could crap wherever you wanted, you annoyed people without even thinking about it, and all you had to worry about was where you would fly to next, either to eat or poop? And the best part is, your memory would be so short that you would never get bored of it. Blissful simplicity.

So to conclude: Maybe these pesty birds have it better than we do. Life is befuddling.

well, that was fun.

Good evening.

I'd like to post tonight about the sad reality that we know as The Holidays. As we are all aware, The Holidays bring a huge sigh of relief to almost everyone. For many, they are comprised of an extended period of time doing absolutely nothing at all other than relaxing, socialising, eating, sleeping and excreting. This is completely and utterly true.

See, some people (namely myself), like to make stupid statements such as: "WOW! Now it's The Holidays, I'm going to do all the things I couldn't do before due to time restrictions because of school/exams/term-things.", and make lists of things, mainly constructive, to use up all this spare time ahead. The ONLY things I've managed to do so far this holidays is catch up with a couple of friends, hang with John and buy a couple of birthday prezzies for various people. (and while we're on the topic - happy birthday to Mitch Dalby :D)

The rest of the time though, I've pretty much neglected and abandoned the aforementioned lists and sat on my bum all day doing bugger-all. And damn does it feel good ;D I mean sure, congratulations to anyone who has actually managed to get something constructive and/or creative done so far these holidays, but in reality its like a vicious cycle. In The Holidays we tell ourselves we're going to do all the stuff we couldnt in term time, but then we get lazy and dont do anything we said we would. So then we tell ourselves that we'll quit being lazy and do all that stuff once term starts, to give us less motivation to be lazy then. But then we have to many school-related shenanigans to get done, and tell ourselves that once we have time (in The Holidays) we'll do all that stuff we said we'd do in the term that we said we'd do in the last set of The Holidays.

-sigh-, life is tragic.

But on a seperate note, I recently added to my Yoshi/Mario-related-merch collection. Newest addition is Medium Green Yoshi, at the back in the centre.

ALSO - I finally bought the new ADTR album, What Separates Me From You. I have literally no words to describe how amazing this album is. ADTR, namely Jeremy McKinnon, are legends. Jeremy's lyrics are obviously from the heart, making them all the more empathiseable (if that isn't a word, it is now). The composition of the instruments accompanied by Jeremy's voice completely melt me. This goes for all their albums: One of the things I love most about ADTR is that I can understand the screaming, and its perfectly balanced. Not too much, not too little, just right. I can honestly say that if marrying their music (or Jeremy) and bearing its/their children were possible, there would be nothing stopping me.

Anyway, enough for tonight, for it is nearly tomorrow.

like a bad girl straight to video

Evening.

So something exciting happened today :) Damien, guitarist of Chasing The Ninth, offered to me an opportunity over FB this afternoon. In return for some long, tedious work in an effort to give the impression that their music is really really popular on Triple J (which it is.. but people don't know it yet..), he said he would reward me with a garuntee that I would be able to attend the second part of the filming of their new video clip :D This is a great privilege because normally no extras (anyone other than the band/film-crew/photographers) are allowed to attend the filming. But that's just because I'm awesome like that and love doing promo-work ;D

Another exciting thing is that A Day To Remember's new album What Separates Me From You is out today! *runs in circles out of pure joy* I will hopefully have been able to purchase it by Friday. Link to their new single is here.

Not much else to say tonight, but here's an amusing story for you :)

Title:

Evening.

I REALLY need to stop doing this, and by 'this' I mean the inconsistency of my posting. I no longer intend to post long, boring rants about the less jolly issues of my life, since Iknow no-one reads them and besides, it's irrelevant to everyone besides me, and also contradicts my initial aim of this being a "light-hearted/amusing" blog to read.

But first, I'm going to be a hypocrite and give you the low down on my life since my last post (which was too long ago, I know): The Solomon Islands was indescribable, and so I wont attempt to describe it. Since then, term three began, I got into rollerblading, I found an amazing guy (name: John.. and no, not big John), and now exams are looming. Once I get through them, I shall be free as a Gen-just-been-released-from-the-nightmarish-ordeal-of-exams. Hoorah!

And now, ladies and gentlemen, I present to you photos for you to contemplate, courtesy of my art-hero, Banksy, of Britain:

Good luck with exams!

Tomorrow is going to be HECTIC. i have 2 assessments/tests, a sausage sizzle, a guitar lesson, a crazy hair day and a treacherous P&E lesson to survive through. but i will survive.

Not much else to say tonight, other than Cherry rules :D

puppets

afternoon.

i have MUCH to share since last week, topics including today, the gigs last weekend, bad news about the weekend just passed, and a change in my personal style that has been brewing in my head (but not my bank account) for a while now, that is only just starting to emerge.

WARNING: it will be a very long post, and i will not blame you for giving up after the first few paragraphs.
--
today is a strange day, as i do not recall ever having been in a similar situation before. normally, on days when there is a school-related carnival, all students are expected to attend. it is compulsory. today, however, it is not. basically, we get a day off. well, everyone except the aths team. so it is odd to know i don't actually have to be anywhere on a tuesday that is not part of the holidays.. so now i am filling up my time with this blog, since I haven't posted in a while.

--
SO, the gigs. Chasing The Ninth started out with a bad note (because john dearest decided not to pick me up from the city, resulting in me catching the train instead and entertaining myself in leederville. this wasnt SO bad because I found and purchased a space-invaders ice-cube tray... epic!) and ended in a bad note (also because of john's shitty behaviour towards me and in general for the duration of that night, the reason being as i discovered later because he wants me, and disliked that i had a boyfriend at the time) BUT....

it was completely and utterly awesome otherwise. all of the bands that played before CTN were amazing, and many of my friends turned up :) thanks to ben, lochran, amy (and sisters), vinnie and nathan for showing, it was very much appreciated! CTN themselves were astonishing.. honestly one of the best bands (live and otherwise) i have ever had the pleasure to listen to (let alone associate with). The other but less important factor that added to the night's good tone was the fact that i didn't have to pay to get in (because i run the street team and do much promo work for the band), i got a free band shirt, and Mike (the lead singer) gave me a shout-out after their third or fourth song (which made me feel very important). So all in all, despite John's behaviour, it was a very enjoyable and fun-filled night, complete with arm-rapes, hip-thrusts and ruined necks due to much headbanging.

BULLET. FOR. MY. VALENTINE. i cannot begin to describe how epic this night was. aside from the fact that i couldnt headbang (refer to the end of previous paragraph) and that i got separated from my friends at the beginning, it was completely and utterly AMAZING. Cancer Bats were shit, Bring Me The Horizon (not the hatmaker..) were insanely awesome (i made eye-contact with oli sykes!) and of course BFMV were EPIC (apologies for the repeat of the word) beyond compare. some pictures from the night (not taken by me.. i wish):

a video of the start of Bullet For My Valentine can be found here. Note: you can see Ben Stroner (:D) at some point on the right sticking up above everyone else because he's on daniel's shoulders)
--
So enough about the gigs. the bad news as im sure you already may have heard is that my boyfriend Zack is well.. no longer my boyfriend. he broke up with me on Sunday morning, just before i left on the coach back to Perth. hooray.... my good friend rachel is taking me out this afternoon to see Despicable Me for some girl time which hopefully will help me take my mind off it. a funny scene thats been edited from the movie is here.
--
So, as mentioned at the beginning of this post, a change in my personal style that has been brewing in my head (but not my bank account) for a while now, is starting to emerge. Basically, my eyes are set on a particular style: bandshirt + skirt or a dress, with stockings and doc martins. you heard right, i said skirt, and i said dress. no longer am i to succumb to the same old inevitable choice of cons, jeans, singlet and cardi, once i have the few items of clothing neccessary to do so. I am going for a look similar to this one:

with doc martins exactly the same as these for christmas:

i also have something in mind for my birthday...

the new Nikon DSLR D3100 :D (also does HD filming, hoorah!)

thats about it for today, and if you're still reading then thanks for not giving up, although i doubt anyone will have got this far without giving up.

my next post will be much shorter, i promise.

toodle-ra!

bring me the hatmaker

So, i have something amusing to post about tonight.

I have Bring Me The Horizon pumped up loud (since my father and sister are out) doing some pre-gig listening for the concert on sunday :D I let the facebook community know this, and a friend of mine (AHEMdanielsandsAHEM) said to me on msn: "bring me the heater?" which sparked a whole conversation, which i thought i would share. the variations we came up with are as follows:

d:bring me the heater
d:buy me that hamburger
d:big monsters tapdance heaps
g:bears make terrible handkerchiefs
d:beards make terrible handkerchiefs
d:big monkeys throw hotdogs
d:booze makes terrible hangovers
(and then it got seedy)
d:boobs make travis horny
g:boobs make tremendous hills
d:boobs may terrify hobbits
g:boobs may terrify homos ;)
g:boobs make tasty hamburgers (not that i'd know, of course.. <.< >.>)
d:bring me three homaphrodites
g:because my testicles hurt
g:bring me the hatmaker
d:bald men tie hammocks
g:bunnies make tricky hairties
d:black men take hostages
and thats all we came up with in 10 mins.

SO this weekend is going to be completely epic, and aside from getting shit off my mind, i cant wait to let loose and have some fun and bring out my inner maniac, that tends to hide for way too long..
Chasing The Ninth tomorrow (i found their review in Drum Media today :D) and Bring Me The Horizon and Bullet For My Valentine on sunday! tell you what, by the end of this weekend i wont be able to stand, speak, or hear i'll have moshed so hard. bring it on.

14

hi.

just a short post tonight, because I don't have much to talk about.

It's my sister's 14th birthday today, and I spent an hour decorating her cake (or at least, trying to..), although it was well worth it, because it was absolutely delicious. She had a pretty good day (as far as birthdays on school days go - i weep for those who have birthdays that dont always fall in the holidays). i bought her a journal, by the title of "Wreck This Journal", which basically has instructions on each page of different ways to destroy each page, what to draw/smear on it, or other strange and previously unthought of things to do with the pages or the journal itself. Examples include: "tape this journal closed and mail it to yourself", "fill this page with circles", "sample random substances from around your home and document them here. creat colour schemes", "sew this page", "give this page away (accept the loss)", etc. She is enjoying destroying it so far.

4 days till CTN, and 5 days till Bullet For My Valentine/Bring Me The Horizon. I am PUMPED.
thats it tonight, so ttfn, ta-ta for now!

not albino, albin-yes

evening.

i awoke thismorning to realise that it is a sunday, and with a long and satisfying groan i dragged myself off my mattress and into a standing position. from there, i got myself ready to go to the Solomon Islands tea-party at PC, which i was not looking forward to since i'd beaten myself up a bit last night at a party i never expected to attend, and was more than willing to spend my day doing absolutely NAFF-ALL.
A quick summary of the event: food was a bit iffy, although the sweets werent too horrid. the little posse i was a part of seemed to irritate just about every elderly woman there by congregating in all the wrong spots of the tiny, cramped venue. After an hour or so of standing around wondering when it would end, it ended. Dad, Mary-Anne (the principle of one of the schools we're visiting over in the SIs who is in Perth for a few weeks) and i clambered into the car and chatted our way to Caversham Wildlife Park.
this is where it got interesting.

i have never, in my entire life, seen so many albino animals gathered into one area at the same time. Caversham has got to have some mass breeding program on or something but there are so many pure white kangaroos and wallabies there it's actually ridiculous. they are almost in equal proportion to the regular red/brown/grey coloured marsupials. Aside from this surprising encounter, i was fortunate enough to meet a strangely awake (and not grumpy) koala, and a 30kg boulder of a wombat (who was fast asleep and dreaming of digging, apparently..)

The only other animals we came across that got a decent reaction out of me were the flying possums (too cute for their own good), the flying foxs (as i am a fan of the bat), and at last the owls. i LOVE owls. every type of owl fascinates me. i would draw them all day long if i could, they are truely beautiful birds.

The park closed, and we returned Mary-Anne to PC. I strangely managed to work up the courage to drive home from there. so far, the longest drive i've ever done, and also my first ever night-drive. i obviously managed to keep myself and Dad in one piece because here i am blogging.

other exciting news is that i may actually be able to work at caversham wildlife park over the summer holidays. i've fallen in love with that place :)

that is all for tonight - my apologies if you are still reading for such a long post.

Over and out,
=that gen person=

P.S. I forgot to add another strange thing i spotted at the park - deer. yes, deer, in an Australian wildlife park. no idea what they were doing there, but there you go... the world is indeed a very strange place.
